Asa 28:1

And when they were escaped, then they knew that the island was called Melita.

Asa 28:2

And the barbarous people shewed us no little kindness: for they kindled a fire, and received us every one, because of the present rain, and because of the cold.

Les indigènes nous traitèrent avec une humanité peu banale. Ils nous accueillirent tous auprès d' un grand feu qu' ils avaient allumé à cause de la pluie qui était survenue et du froid.

Asa 28:3

And when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks, and laid them on the fire, there came a viper out of the heat, and fastened on his hand.

Comme Paul ramassait une brassée de bois sec et la jetait dans le feu, une vipère, que la chaleur en fit sortir, s' accrocha à sa main.

Asa 28:4

And when the barbarians saw the venomous beast hang on his hand, they said among themselves, no doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he hath escaped the sea, yet vengeance suffereth not to live.

Quand les indigènes virent la bête suspendue à sa main, ils se dirent entre eux : " Pour sûr, c' est un assassin que cet homme : il vient d'échapper à la mer, et la vengeance divine ne lui permet pas de vivre. "

Asa 28:5

And he shook off the beast into the fire, and felt no harm.

Asa 28:6

Howbeit they looked when he should have swollen, or fallen down dead suddenly: but after they had looked a great while, and saw no harm come to him, they changed their minds, and said that he was a god.

Asa 28:7

In the same quarters were possessions of the chief man of the island, whose name was Publius; who received us, and lodged us three days courteously.

Il y avait à proximité de cet endroit un domaine appartenant au Premier de l'île, nommé Publius. Celui-ci nous reçut et nous hébergea complaisamment pendant trois jours.

Asa 28:8

And it came to pass, that the father of Publius lay sick of a fever and of a bloody flux: to whom Paul entered in, and prayed, and laid his hands on him, and healed him.

Asa 28:9

So when this was done, others also, which had diseases in the island, came, and were healed:

Who also honoured us with many honours; and when we departed, they laded us with such things as were necessary.

Asa 28:11

And after three months we departed in a ship of Alexandria, which had wintered in the isle, whose sign was Castor and Pollux.

Asa 28:12

And landing at Syracuse, we tarried there three days.

Asa 28:13

And from thence we fetched a compass, and came to Rhegium: and after one day the south wind blew, and we came the next day to Puteoli:

Asa 28:14

Where we found brethren, and were desired to tarry with them seven days: and so we went toward Rome.

Y trouvant des frères, nous eûmes la consolation de rester sept jours avec eux. Et c' est ainsi que nous arrivâmes à Rome.

Asa 28:15

And from thence, when the brethren heard of us, they came to meet us as far as Appii forum, and The three taverns: whom when Paul saw, he thanked God, and took courage.

Les frères de cette ville, informés de notre arrivée, vinrent à notre rencontre jusqu' au Forum d' Appius et aux Trois-Tavernes. En les voyant, Paul rendit grâces à Dieu et reprit courage.

Asa 28:16

And when we came to Rome, the centurion delivered the prisoners to the captain of the guard: but Paul was suffered to dwell by himself with a soldier that kept him.

Asa 28:17

And it came to pass, that after three days Paul called the chief of the Jews together: and when they were come together, he said unto them, Men and brethren, though I have committed nothing against the people, or customs of our fathers, yet was I delivered prisoner from Jerusalem into the hands of the Romans.

Trois jours après, il convoqua les notables juifs. Lorsqu' ils furent réunis, il leur dit : " Frères, alors que je n' avais rien fait contre notre peuple ni contre les coutumes des pères, j' ai été arrêté à Jérusalem et livré aux mains des Romains.

Asa 28:18

Who, when they had examined me, would have let me go, because there was no cause of death in me.

Enquête faite, ceux-ci voulaient me relâcher, parce qu' il n' y avait rien en moi qui méritât la mort.

Asa 28:19

But when the Jews spake against it, I was constrained to appeal unto Caesar; not that I had ought to accuse my nation of.

Fa raha notoherin' ny Jiosy izany, dia tery aho ka nilaza fa handahatra amin' i Kaisara, nefa tsy mba toy ny manana teny hiampangako ny fireneko tsy akory.

Mais comme les Juifs s' y opposaient, j' ai été contraint d' en appeler à César, sans pourtant vouloir accuser en rien ma nation.

Asa 28:20

For this cause therefore have I called for you, to see you, and to speak with you: because that for the hope of Israel I am bound with this chain.

Ary izany zavatra izany no nampanalako anareo, hahitako anareo sy hiresahako aminareo; fa noho ny fanantenan' ny Isiraely no ifatorako amin' ity gadra ity.

Voilà pourquoi j' ai demandé à vous voir et à vous parler ; car c' est à cause de l' espérance d' Israël que je porte les chaînes que voici. "

Asa 28:21

And they said unto him, We neither received letters out of Judaea concerning thee, neither any of the brethren that came shewed or spake any harm of thee.

Ils lui répondirent : " Pour notre compte, nous n' avons reçu à ton sujet aucune lettre de Judée, et aucun des frères arrivés ici ne nous a rien communiqué ni appris de fâcheux sur ton compte.

Asa 28:22

But we desire to hear of thee what thou thinkest: for as concerning this sect, we know that every where it is spoken against.

Mais nous voudrions entendre de ta bouche ce que tu penses ; car pour ce qui est de ce parti-là, nous savons qu' il rencontre partout la contradiction. "

Asa 28:23

And when they had appointed him a day, there came many to him into his lodging; to whom he expounded and testified the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus, both out of the law of Moses, and out of the prophets, from morning till evening.

Ils prirent donc jour avec lui et vinrent en plus grand nombre le trouver en son logis. Dans l' exposé qu' il leur fit, il rendait témoignage du Royaume de Dieu et cherchait à les persuader au sujet de Jésus, en partant de la Loi de Moïse et des Prophètes. Cela dura depuis le matin jusqu' au soir.

Asa 28:24

And some believed the things which were spoken, and some believed not.

Les uns se laissaient persuader par ses paroles, les autres restaient incrédules.

Asa 28:25

And when they agreed not among themselves, they departed, after that Paul had spoken one word, Well spake the Holy Ghost by Esaias the prophet unto our fathers,

Asa 28:26

Saying, Go unto this people, and say, Hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and not perceive:

manao hoe: Mandehana any amin' ity firenena ity ianao, ka lazao hoe: Mba hahare mandrakariva ihany ianareo, fa tsy hahalala; Ary mba hijery mandrakariva ihany ianareo, fa tsy hahita;

Mankanesa amin' io firenena io hianao, ka lazao amin' izy ireo hoe: Handre amin' ny sofinareo hianareo, fa tsy hahalala; ary hijery amin' ny masonareo, fa tsy hahita.

Va trouver ce peuple et dis-lui : vous aurez beau écouter, vous ne comprendrez pas ; vous aurez beau regarder, vous ne verrez pas.

Asa 28:27

For the heart of this people is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes have they closed; lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

Fa efa adala ny fon' ireo olona ireo, ary efa lalodalovana ny sofiny, ary efa nakimpiny ny masony, Fandrao hahita ny masony, sy handre ny sofiny, ary hahalala ny fony, dia hibebaka izy, ka hahasitrana azy Aho. (Isa. 6. 9, 10).

Satria efa nihadonto ny fon' io firenena io, efa nihamarenina ny sofiny, ary efa nakimpiny ny masony, fandrao mahita ny masony, sy mandre ny sofiny, ary mahalala ny fony, ka ndeha hibebaka izy, ka tonga mahazo famonjena avy amiko.

C' est que l' esprit de ce peuple s' est épaissi : ils se sont bouché les oreilles, ils ont fermé les yeux, de peur que leurs yeux ne voient, que leurs oreilles n' entendent, que leur esprit ne comprenne, qu' ils ne se convertissent. Et je les aurais guéris !

Asa 28:28

Be it known therefore unto you, that the salvation of God is sent unto the Gentiles, and that they will hear it.

Koa aoka ho fantatrareo fa izao famonjen' Andriamanitra izao dia nampitondraina ho any amin' ny jentilisa, ary izy hihaino azy.

" Sachez-le donc : c' est aux païens qu' a été envoyé ce salut de Dieu. Eux du moins, ils écouteront. "

Asa 28:29

And when he had said these words, the Jews departed, and had great reasoning among themselves.

Asa 28:30

And Paul dwelt two whole years in his own hired house, and received all that came in unto him,

Asa 28:31

Preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ, with all confidence, no man forbidding him.

proclamant le Royaume de Dieu et enseignant ce qui concerne le Seigneur Jésus Christ avec pleine assurance et sans obstacle.
