Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

For by it the elders obtained a good report.

C' est elle qui a valu aux anciens un bon témoignage.

Heb 11:3

Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.

Finoana no ahafantarantsika fa ny tenin' Andriamanitra no nanaovana izao tontolo izao, ka dia tsy izay zavatra miseho no nanaovana izao zavatra hita izao.

Par la foi, nous comprenons que les mondes ont été formés par une parole de Dieu, de sorte que ce que l' on voit provient de ce qui n' est pas apparent.

Heb 11:4

By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.

Par la foi, Abel offrit à Dieu un sacrifice de plus grande valeur que celui de Caïn ; aussi fut-il proclamé juste, Dieu ayant rendu témoignage à ses dons, et par elle aussi, bien que mort, il parle encore.

Heb 11:5

By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.

Par la foi, Hénoch fut enlevé, en sorte qu' il ne vit pas la mort, et on ne le trouva plus, parce que Dieu l' avait enlevé. Avant son enlèvement, en effet, il lui est rendu témoignage qu' il avait plu à Dieu.

Heb 11:6

But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Or sans la foi il est impossible de lui plaire. Car celui qui s' approche de Dieu doit croire qu' il existe et qu' il se fait le rémunérateur de ceux qui le cherchent.

Heb 11:7

By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.

Finoana no nanamboaran' i Noa sambo fiara hamonjena ny ankohonany, fa natahotra izy, rehefa notoroan' Andriamanitra hevitra ny amin' ny zavatra tsy mbola hita; koa izany no nanamelohany izao tontolo izao sy nahatongavany ho mpandova ny fahamarinana araka ny finoana.

Ny finoana no nandrafetan' i Noe ny sambo fiara hamonjena ny fianakaviany, fa natahotra izy nony efa nilazan' Andriamanitra ny zavatra mbola tsy hita; ary izany no nanamelohany an' izao tontolo izao sy nahatongavany ho mpandova ny fahamarinana izay azo amin' ny finoana.

Par la foi, Noé, divinement averti de ce qui n'était pas encore visible, saisi d' une crainte religieuse, construisit une arche pour sauver sa famille. Par la foi, il condamna le monde et il devint héritier de la justice qui s' obtient par la foi.

Heb 11:8

By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.

Finoana no naneken' i Abrahama, rehefa nantsoina, hiainga hankany amin' izay tany ho azony ho lova; ka dia niainga izy, nefa tsy fantany izay halehany.

Par la foi, Abraham obéit à l' appel de partir vers un pays qu' il devait recevoir en héritage, et il partit ne sachant où il allait.

Heb 11:9

By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise:

Finoana no nivahiniany tany amin' ny tany nolazain' ny teny fikasana, toy ny any an-tanin' olona, mitoetra an-day, mbamin' isaka sy Jakoba, mpiara-mandova izany teny fikasana izany aminy;

Par la foi, il vint séjourner dans la Terre promise comme en un pays étranger, y vivant sous des tentes, ainsi qu' Isaac et Jacob, héritiers avec lui de la même promesse.

Heb 11:10

For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God.

C' est qu' il attendait la ville pourvue de fondations dont Dieu est l' architecte et le constructeur.

Heb 11:11

Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised.

Heb 11:12

Therefore sprang there even of one, and him as good as dead, so many as the stars of the sky in multitude, and as the sand which is by the sea shore innumerable.

C' est bien pour cela que d' un seul homme, et déjà marqué par la mort, naquirent des descendants comparables par leur nombre aux étoiles du ciel et aux grains de sable sur le rivage de la mer, innombrables...

Heb 11:13

These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.

C' est dans la foi qu' ils moururent tous sans avoir reçu l' objet des promesses, mais ils l' ont vu et salué de loin, et ils ont confessé qu' ils étaient étrangers et voyageurs sur la terre.

Heb 11:14

For they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country.

Fa izay milaza izany zavatra izany dia maneho marimarina fa mitady izay ho taniny izy.

Manambara mazava izay milaza izany fa mitady tanin-drazana honenany izy.

Ceux qui parlent ainsi font voir clairement qu' ils sont à la recherche d' une patrie.

Heb 11:15

And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from whence they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned.

Et s' ils avaient pensé à celle d' où ils étaient sortis, ils auraient eu le temps d' y retourner.

Heb 11:16

But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city.

Or, en fait, ils aspirent à une patrie meilleure, c' est-à-dire céleste. C' est pourquoi, Dieu n' a pas honte de s' appeler leur Dieu ; il leur a préparé, en effet, une ville...

By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son,

Of whom it was said, That in Isaac shall thy seed be called:

Heb 11:19

Accounting that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead; from whence also he received him in a figure.

Heb 11:20

By faith Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau concerning things to come.

Par la foi encore, Isaac donna à Jacob et à Ésaü des bénédictions assurant l' avenir.

Heb 11:21

By faith Jacob, when he was a dying, blessed both the sons of Joseph; and worshipped, leaning upon the top of his staff.

Par la foi, Jacob mourant bénit chacun des fils de Joseph et il se prosterna appuyé sur l' extrémité de son bâton.

Heb 11:22

By faith Joseph, when he died, made mention of the departing of the children of Israel; and gave commandment concerning his bones.

Heb 11:23

By faith Moses, when he was born, was hid three months of his parents, because they saw he was a proper child; and they were not afraid of the king' s commandment.

Par la foi, Moïse, à sa naissance fut caché par ses parents pendant trois mois, parce qu' ils virent que le petit enfant était joli, et ils ne craignirent pas l'édit du roi.

By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh' s daughter;

Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season;

nifidy mantsy hiara-mitondra fahoriana amin' ny olon' Andriamanitra toy izay hanana fifaliana vetivety amin' ny fahotana,

fa naleony miaraka ory amin' ny vahoakan' Andriamanitra toy izay miarana amin' ny hafaliana mandalon' ny fahotana;

aimant mieux être maltraité avec le peuple de Dieu que de connaître la jouissance éphémère du péché,

Heb 11:26

Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward.

estimant comme une richesse supérieure aux trésors de l'Égypte l' opprobre du Christ. Il avait, en effet, les yeux fixés sur la récompense.

Heb 11:27

By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible.

Heb 11:28

Through faith he kept the passover, and the sprinkling of blood, lest he that destroyed the firstborn should touch them.

Par la foi, il célébra la Pâque et fit l' aspersion du sang, afin que l' Exterminateur ne touchât point les premiers-nés d' Israël.

Heb 11:29

By faith they passed through the Red sea as by dry land: which the Egyptians assaying to do were drowned.

Par la foi, ils traversèrent la mer Rouge comme une terre sèche, tandis que les Égyptiens, ayant essayé le passage, furent engloutis.

Heb 11:30

By faith the walls of Jericho fell down, after they were compassed about seven days.

By faith the harlot Rahab perished not with them that believed not, when she had received the spies with peace.

Par la foi, Rahab la prostituée ne périt pas avec les incrédules, parce qu' elle avait accueilli pacifiquement les éclaireurs.

Heb 11:32

And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets:

Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions.

eux qui, grâce à la foi, soumirent des royaumes, exercèrent la justice, obtinrent l' accomplissement des promesses, fermèrent la gueule des lions,

Heb 11:34

Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.

namono ny fidedadedan' afo, afaka tamin' ny lelan-tsabatra, raha nalemy dia nampahatanjahina, tonga nahery tamin' ny ady, dia nampandositra ny miaramilan' ny firenena hafa.

éteignirent la violence du feu, échappèrent au tranchant du glaive, furent rendus vigoureux, de malades qu' ils étaient, montrèrent de la vaillance à la guerre, refoulèrent les invasions étrangères.

Heb 11:35

Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection:

Ny vehivavy nandray ny azy efa maty, fa natsangana ho velona indray; ary ny sasany nampijalijalina ho faty, nefa tsy mety nanao izay hahafahany, mba hahazoany fitsanganana tsara lavitra;

nandraisan' ny vehivavy ny zanany maty voatsangana tamin' ny maty. Ny sasany nampijalina ho faty, nefa tsy nety nanao izay hahafahany, mba hahazoany fitsanganana amin' ny maty tsaratsara kokoa;

Des femmes ont recouvré leurs morts par la résurrection. Les uns se sont laissé torturer, refusant leur délivrance afin d' obtenir une meilleure résurrection.

Heb 11:36

And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment:

D' autres subirent l'épreuve des dérisions et des fouets, et même celle des chaînes et de la prison.

Heb 11:37

They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented;

Heb 11:38

(Of whom the world was not worthy:) they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth.

Heb 11:39

And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise:

Et toux ceux-là, bien qu' ils aient reçu un bon témoignage à cause de leur foi, ne bénéficièrent pas de la promesse :

Heb 11:40

God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect.
