And Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of Gilead, said unto Ahab, As the Lord God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word.

Get thee hence, and turn thee eastward, and hide thyself by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan.

" Va-t' en d' ici, dirige-toi vers l' orient et cache-toi au torrent de Kerit, qui est à l' est du Jourdain.

1Mp 17:4

And it shall be, that thou shalt drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there.

So he went and did according unto the word of the Lord: for he went and dwelt by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan.

And the ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening; and he drank of the brook.

And it came to pass after a while, that the brook dried up, because there had been no rain in the land.

And the word of the Lord came unto him, saying,

Alors la parole de Yahvé lui fut adressée en ces termes :

1Mp 17:9

Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee.

Miaingà ka mankanesa any Zarefata, izay naman' i Sidona, ary mitoera any; fa, indro, misy vehivavy mpitondratena any izay notendreko hamelona anao.

Miaingà hianao ka mankanesa any Sarefta, izay an' i Sidona, dia mitoera any; indro fa nodidiako hamelona anao any ny vehivavy mpitondratena anankiray.

" Lève-toi et va à Sarepta, qui appartient à Sidon, et tu y demeureras. Voici que j' ordonne là-bas à une veuve de te donner à manger. "

1Mp 17:10

So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, the widow woman was there gathering of sticks: and he called to her, and said, Fetch me, I pray thee, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink.

Il se leva et alla à Sarepta. Comme il arrivait à l' entrée de la ville, il y avait là une veuve qui ramassait du bois ; il l' interpella et lui dit : " Apporte-moi donc un peu d' eau dans la cruche, que je boive ! "

1Mp 17:11

And as she was going to fetch it, he called to her, and said, Bring me, I pray thee, a morsel of bread in thine hand.

Ary nony lasa naka ravehivavy, dia miantso azy Elia ka nanao hoe: Masìna ianao, itondray mofo kely koa eny an-tananao aho.

And she said, As the Lord thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but an handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse: and, behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die.

Fa hoy ny navaliny: Velona Iaveh Andriamanitrao, tsy misy zavatra masaka ao amiko; lafarina eran-tanan' ila ao am-bilany sy diloilo kely foana ao amin' ny siny no hany ananako. Ary indro aho manangona tapa-kazo roa izao, dia hody hanamboatra izany ho anay mianaka; hohaninay izany, dia ho faty izahay.

Elle répondit : " Par Yahvé vivant, ton Dieu ! je n' ai pas de pain cuit ; je n' ai qu' une poignée de farine dans une jarre et un peu d' huile dans une cruche, je suis à ramasser deux bouts de bois, je vais préparer cela pour moi et mon fils, nous mangerons et nous mourrons. "

1Mp 17:13

And Elijah said unto her, Fear not; go and do as thou hast said: but make me thereof a little cake first, and bring it unto me, and after make for thee and for thy son.

For thus saith the Lord God of Israel, The barrel of meal shall not waste, neither shall the cruse of oil fail, until the day that the Lord sendeth rain upon the earth.

Fa izao no lazain' i Jehovah, Andriamanitry ny Isiraely: Tsy ho lany ny koba ao amin' ny barika, ary tsy ho ritra ny diloilo ao amin' ny tavoara mandra-pihavin' ny andro handatsahan' i Jehovah ranonorana amin' ny tany.

Fa izao no lazain' ny Tompo Andriamanitr' Israely: Ny lafarina ao am-bilany tsy ho lany, ny diloilo ao an-tavoara tsy hihena akory mandra-pihavin' ny andro handatsahan' ny Tompo ranonorana eto ambonin' ny tany.

Car ainsi parle Yahvé, Dieu d' Israël :Jarre de farine ne s'épuisera, cruche d' huile ne se videra, jusqu' au jour où Yahvé enverra la pluie sur la face de la terre. "

1Mp 17:15

And she went and did according to the saying of Elijah: and she, and he, and her house, did eat many days.

Dia nandeha ravehivavy ka nanao araka ny tenin' i Elia, ary izy sy ravehivavy mbamin' ny ankohonany dia nanan-kohanina elaela ihany.

Elle alla et fit comme avait dit Élie, et ils mangèrent, elle, lui et son fils.

1Mp 17:16

And the barrel of meal wasted not, neither did the cruse of oil fail, according to the word of the Lord, which he spake by Elijah.

La jarre de farine ne s'épuisa pas et la cruche d' huile ne se vida pas, selon la parole que Yahvé avait dite par le ministère d'Élie.

1Mp 17:17

And it came to pass after these things, that the son of the woman, the mistress of the house, fell sick; and his sickness was so sore, that there was no breath left in him.

Ary nony afaka izany, dia narary ny zana-dravehivavy tompon-trano, ary mafy indrindra ny aretiny, ka efa tsy nisy fofonaina intsony izy.

Après ces événements, il arriva que le fils de la maîtresse de maison tomba malade, et sa maladie fut si violente qu' enfin il expira.

1Mp 17:18

And she said unto Elijah, What have I to do with thee, O thou man of God? art thou come unto me to call my sin to remembrance, and to slay my son?

Alors elle dit à Élie : " Qu' ai-je à faire avec toi, homme de Dieu ? Tu es donc venu chez moi pour rappeler mes fautes et faire mourir mon fils ! "

1Mp 17:19

And he said unto her, Give me thy son. And he took him out of her bosom, and carried him up into a loft, where he abode, and laid him upon his own bed.

Il lui dit : " Donne-moi ton fils " ; il l' enleva de son sein, le monta dans la chambre haute où il habitait et le coucha sur son lit.

1Mp 17:20

And he cried unto the Lord, and said, O Lord my God, hast thou also brought evil upon the widow with whom I sojourn, by slaying her son?

Dia nitaraina tamin' i Jehovah izy ka nanao hoe: Jehovah Andriamanitro ô, efa nahatonga loza koa tamin' ny mpitondratena izay nivahiniako va Hianao ka nahafaty ny zanany?

Dia niantso an' ny Tompo izy, nanao hoe: Iaveh Andriamanitra ô, dia nampidi-doza ho amin' ity mpitondratena itoerako ity va hianao, ka hahafaty ny zanany va?

Puis il invoqua Yahvé et dit : " Yahvé, mon Dieu, veux-tu donc aussi du mal à la veuve qui m' héberge, pour que tu fasses mourir son fils ? "

1Mp 17:21

And he stretched himself upon the child three times, and cried unto the Lord, and said, O Lord my God, I pray thee, let this child' s soul come into him again.

Il s'étendit trois fois sur l' enfant et il invoqua Yahvé : " Yahvé, mon Dieu, je t' en prie, fais revenir en lui l'âme de cet enfant ! "

1Mp 17:22

And the Lord heard the voice of Elijah; and the soul of the child came into him again, and he revived.

Yahvé exauça l' appel d'Élie, l'âme de l' enfant revint en lui et il reprit vie.

1Mp 17:23

And Elijah took the child, and brought him down out of the chamber into the house, and delivered him unto his mother: and Elijah said, See, thy son liveth.

And the woman said to Elijah, Now by this I know that thou art a man of God, and that the word of the Lord in thy mouth is truth.

La femme lui répondit : " Maintenant je sais que tu es un homme de Dieu et que la parole de Yahvé dans ta bouche est vérité ! "
