10 D'après Hugon (1818), ce serait le fameux « Costus indicus » dont parlent tant d'auteurs anciens, dont Guibourt. Écorce odorante à odeur de musc et à goût poivré. Bois blanc également odorant. L'arbre donne une gomme parfumée appelée ditim-pimpy ou liti-manitra comestible à l'état frais et même après conservation. On l'emploie comme condiment.
