4 plus 3 introduced and naturalized... 5 Albizia is distributed primarily in 6 dry to subarid deciduous forest and thicket, with several species 7 also in humid to subhumid evergreen forest... 8 A. lebbeck, now widely naturalized throughout Madagascar, 9 can be distinguished from all other Malagasy Albizia by its large, papery, 10 dehiscent pod, which is straw-colored and darker over the seeds. 11 A group of species with distinctly rhombic leaflets includes: 12 large, low elevation humid forest A. adianthifolia; 13 mid elevation to montane humid and subhumid forest A. gummifera and A. viridis (with stipels); 14 and dry deciduous forest A. mainaea. With the exception of A. viridis, the other 3 species 15 have exceptionally long staminal tubes, the filaments fused nearly to the apex. [2.515] |
