My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;

So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;

Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;

oui, si tu fais appel à l' entendement, si tu réclames l' intelligence,

If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;

Then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God.

alors tu comprendras la crainte de Yahvé, tu trouveras la connaissance de Dieu.

For the Lord giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.

Car c' est Yahvé qui donne la sagesse, de sa bouche sortent le savoir et l' intelligence.

He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly.

Izy mitahiry fanambinana ho an' ny mahitsy Sady ampingan' izay mandeha tsy misy tsiny;

Mitahiry ny fahasambarana ho an' ny olona mahitsy fo izy, ary ampinga ho an' izay mandeha amin' ny fahalavorariana.

Il réserve aux hommes droits son conseil, il est le bouclier de ceux qui pratiquent l' honnêteté;

He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints.

Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path.

Alors tu comprendras justice, équité et droiture, toutes les pistes du bonheur.

When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul;

Quand la sagesse entrera dans ton coeur, que le savoir fera les délices de ton âme,

Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:

Dia hiaro anao ny fisainana mazava, Ary hiambina anao ny fahalalana,

dia hitandrina anao ny fisainana, ary hiambina anao ny fahalalana,

la prudence veillera sur toi, l' intelligence te gardera

To deliver thee from the way of the evil man, from the man that speaketh froward things;

Ka hamonjy anao amin' ny lalan-dratsy Sy amin' ny lehilahy izay miteny fitaka,

mba hanafaka anao amin' ny lalan' ny ratsy fanahy, amin' ny olona manao resaka ratsy,

pour t'éloigner de la voie mauvaise, de l' homme aux propos pervers,

Who leave the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness;

Izay mahafoy ny lalan' ny fahamarinana Mba hizorany amin' ny lalan' ny fahamaizinana,

amin' izay miala amin' ny lala-mahitsy, ka mizotra amin' ny lalana maizina;

de ceux qui délaissent les droits sentiers et vont courir par des voies ténébreuses;

Who rejoice to do evil, and delight in the frowardness of the wicked;

Dia izay faly hanao ratsy Sy finaritra amin' ny fitaky ny ratsy,

ary ny manao ratsy no ifaliany sy izay faharatsiana mihoa-pampana no iravoravoany;

ils trouvent leur joie à faire le mal, ils se complaisent dans la perversité;

Whose ways are crooked, and they froward in their paths:

Dia izay melo-dalana Sy maniasia amin' ny alehany;

sakeli-dalana miolikolika no alehany ary lalana miolakolaka no ombany;

leurs sentiers sont tortueux, leurs pistes sont obliques.

To deliver thee from the strange woman, even from the stranger which flattereth with her words;

Ary hamonjy anao amin' ny vehivavy jejo koa izany, Dia amin' ny vahiny janga izay mandrobo amin' ny teniny,

hanafaka anao amin' ny vehivavy efa an' ny hafa, amin' ny vehivavy efa an' olon-kafa izay manao teny mandrobo,

Pour te garder aussi de la femme étrangère, de l' inconnue aux paroles enjôleuses;

Which forsaketh the guide of her youth, and forgetteth the covenant of her God.

elle a abandonné l' ami de sa jeunesse, elle a oublié l' alliance de son Dieu;

For her house inclineth unto death, and her paths unto the dead.

Fa ny tranony milentika ho amin' ny fahafatesana, Ary ny alehany mankany amin' ny maty.

sa maison penche vers la mort, ses pistes conduisent vers les ombres.

None that go unto her return again, neither take they hold of the paths of life.

Tsy misy afa-miverina izay mankany aminy, Na mihazo amin' ny lalan' aina,

tsy misy miverina izay rehetra mandeha aminy, tsy misy mahita ny lalan' ny fiainana intsony, na dia iray aza.

De ceux qui vont à elle, pas un ne revient, ils ne rejoignent plus les sentiers de la vie.

That thou mayest walk in the way of good men, and keep the paths of the righteous.

Handehananao amin' ny lalan' ny tsara fanahy Sy hitandremanao ny alehan' ny marina.

Dia handeha amin' ny lalan' ny olona tsara fanahy hianao, ary hifikitra amin' ny lalan' ny marina.

Ainsi chemineras-tu dans la voie des gens de bien, garderas-tu le sentier des justes.

For the upright shall dwell in the land, and the perfect shall remain in it.

Fa ny olona mahitsy no honina amin' ny tany, Ary ny tsy manan-tsiny ihany no ho sisa mitoetra ao;

Satria ny olo-mahitsy fo no honina amin' ny tany, ary ny olo-marina no ho tafatoetra eo.

Car les hommes droits habiteront le pays, les gens honnêtes y demeureront,

But the wicked shall be cut off from the earth, and the transgressors shall be rooted out of it.
